When popular mainstream bands conduct press interviews in advance of shows here in Hawaii, it's usually done by telephone. So it wasn't that strange to hear from BAMP Project, the promoter behind Friday's Daughtry concert at Kakaako Waterfront Park, that someone from the band would be available earlier this week for a short phone interview.
What made the situation a bit odd was a detail I discovered a bit earlier — that Chris Daughtry and his band were, in fact, here on island for a few days of vacation before this weekend's concert.
By phone or face to face, it didn't matter as long as we got our time to talk. So when Daughtry himself got on the phone on Wednesday, we were ready with questions about his music, his vacation plans and his thoughts on performing alongside the legendary Carlos Santana earlier this month on "Dancing With the Stars."
The complete interview is linked below in two parts — click each one to listen in your browser, or right-click and select "Save As…" for use in iTunes and other .mp3 players.
